Well, my Aunt and Uncle had this painting in their guest house in Vero Beach and I was always fond of it. When they redecorated the guest house, they let me have this painting.
Their yacht "Enchanter" was the one in the movie "The Parent Trap" with Lindsey Lohan (labelled "Halcyon" in the film, but still with the "Wilmington, Delaware" livery, for bragging rights probably). I recognized it when I watched that movie in 2024. I jumped up and said, "That's Aunt Marsha's boat!" Yes, I spent time on that yacht when I was a teenager. Pretty sweet! And yes, you can imagine how flabbergasted I was to have been stiffed in both of their wills. Those DuPonts - not nice people. But everyone knows that.
Mr and Mrs Andrew W Edmonds (he being a son of a DuPont female; his father was head of Wilmington Trust back in the day; his 2nd wife was my Aunt Marsha) enjoyed rescuing tigers at the Central Florida Animal Reserve, but this painting preceded their philanthropy to tigers.
I expect my uncle obtained this lovely 9"x12" painting while on a Navy tour somewhere in the 1970's; it has the style of Asia or India, don't you think? Note: Near it, he had a certificate about Davy Jones, a Navy reference; so perhaps he hung these two pieces together for that reason, that they both reminded him of the Navy.
Meanwhile, some of his cousins are among the Brandywine Valley artsy folks... like Andrew Wyeth. Another of his cousins was Pete DuPont, former governor of Delaware, who received 2nd billing to architect Art Gensler in the Wall Street Journal the week they both passed away C. 2021.
I do enjoy looking at this painting, but could certainly part with it, for anyone interested in the provenance.

Reminds me of the story of the beautiful tiger slain in Maggie O'Farrell's book "The Marriage Portrait."
