Who goes to street parties? If you’re talking about San Francisco, the answer is: EVERYONE!! The new mayor hosted an inauguration dinner in Chinatown along with what was advertised as a “street market with a famous DJ.” I attended the latter. I found a good spot and waited for the headliner, named ZHU. From the first electronic chord, I was struck with the beauty, and everyone danced in the street. There were moms and dads with babies, 20-somethings, 30-somethings, and everybody else who likes city-living.

This was a good night to be in a crowd, I thought, because the new mayor would ensure excellent security at his 1st event, so I had a feeling of safety. The outdoor air was fresh and cool, this being San Francisco, and overall it was a beautiful, memorable night.

I don’t know if the market vendors had many sales – those tents were not very accessible due to the overwhelming attendance that night. But Citibank of course, with its blue, illuminated exterior signage, certainly succeeded in being seen from all angles. Check out the photos.
